Controller upgrades in progress
1993 Chrysler TEVan - BEV
The original TEVan
controller electronics
removed.
New baseplate design
showing new IGBT
layout.  Note that we
considered two
different IGBT sizes
denoted by the red
and blue lines, and
desided to use the
more robust IGBT for
final installation.
... in progress as of 03.04.2008
Counter
Old baseplate on left,
new on right.
New baseplate
isolation block mounts.
Test fitting
components to be
reused on to new
baseplate.
Continued parts fitting.
New driver card fitted
to side plate over area
formerly used by LXT
gauge.

This driver card is
pictured yet to be
stuffed.

The design calls for
the original logic card
to continue running its
normal operations,
and the new driver
card to take over all
power operations as
the power side has
had all the known
controller failures.
This view shows the
new IGBT installed ass
well as the custom
isolation block to its
left.  The isolation
block replaces the first
row of the old triple
IN-A-PAK IGBT set-up.

Note the drive logic
card to the bottom of
the picture.

We have choosen
IGBT
mg600q2ys60a for
its extra protections
and reputation.
Althouh it is no longer
in production the
surplus market has
ample supplies.
Another view during
set-up.
Here is a shot with
most the major
components installed.

Next steps include
stuffing the drive
board, wiring between
the old and new
boards and testing.

Lots of testing.
